15. Oktober, weltweiter Aktionstag für "globalen Wandel"

... Unterdessen ist für den 15. Oktober ein weltweiter Aktionstag für den "globalen Wandel" geplant. Veranstaltungen sind unter anderem für Tokio, Taipeh, Manila und Hongkong, Kairo, die Azoren, verschiedene Orte der kanarischen Inseln, Rabat, Durban, Johannesburg und Kapstadt, Buenos Aires, Montivideo und mehr als einem Dutzend weiterer südamerikanischer Städte, sowie für zahllose Städte Nordamerikas und Europas angekündigt. In einem kurzen Aufruf zu gemeinsamen Aktionen heißt es:

"The ruling powers work for the benefit of just a few, ignoring the will of the vast majority and the human and environmental price we all have to pay. This intolerable situation must end. United in one voice, we will let politicians, and the financial elites they serve, know it is up to us, the people, to decide our future. We are not goods in the hands of politicians and bankers who do not represent us. On October 15th, we will meet on the streets to initiate the global change we want."

Am 8. und 9. Oktober soll es eine virtuelle globale Versammlung zur Vorbereitung der Aktionen geben.

In Deutschland bereitet vor allem das globalsierungskritische Netzwerk ATTAC Aktionen in verschiedenen Städten vor. In Berlin gibt es unter dem Motto "Für ein solidarisches Europa" eine Anhörung mit Aktivisten aus Island, Spanien, Belgien und Irland. Auch der Außenminister Ecuadors, Ricardo Patiño, wird sprechen.
